My pregnancy wasn’t a planned one but for sure was a wanted one. We didn’t expect it to be this fast. Apparently the only thing we needed was to be closed in our house while beeing purely at peace and relaxed.
The entire pregnancy sucked for me so much because I was sick from day 1 until the 39 week, I would be soooo nauseated and I couldn’t eat well. I really eat a lot of patatoes (in different ways) and A LOT of goat cheese – especially the one with truffles in it.

In the end to beat this I had to ask my doctor and she gave me some medication that I took until the last day and a few days after because I was still a little nauseated. But here are the 10 things I’ve tried while consulting with my doctor ( you don’t have to do this, this isn’t medical advice – this are just some normal tips for nausea – please advice with your doctor) :
1. TAKE A BREAK – just for beeing pregnant you need the adequate rest. Having morning or all day nausea just by thinking getting out of bed. Not all of us have this possibility but if you can DO IT! Some employers require a doctor’s note for a sick day, so make sure you call your health care provider before taking off so they can provide the appropriate documentation. Your body’s working overtime on growing that baby—you deserve it.

2. SNIFF A FRESH SCENT

There are some scents that will turn your tummy upaide down – from the nasty smell of thw garbage can to your co-worker nice fruity perfume – but some, like citrus & some herbs can actually help you with the morning sickness.
Try sniffing fresh scents when you can’t open a window or walk away. Carry a bottle of lemon extract or a sprig of fresh rosemary in your bag, and stealthily sneak a sniff when needed.
3. GET SUPPORT – while beeing self-sufficient and powering through your pregnancy is admirable there are some things that you need to be vocal about in order to be help alleviate this sickness.
For example, during my pregnancy I hated my husband shower gel, it was making me nausea and he had a specific type of donner that he would love but if would have kiss me after eating that without washing his teeth I would gag so much. Telling him and letting him know the little changes that he could do to help me meant a lot for me, my comfort and for him as well.
4. TRACK YOUR NAUSEA – keep a pregnancy journal (I used a digital one – click on the link) and track your nausea to identify a pattern and that way you can see what the trigger is and avoid it.
For example, I wasn’t nauseated always in the mornings but every evening around 4pm I would be crazy nauseated some times I even vomited. I discovered that, at 4pm my sweet neighbor starts preparing their dinner and that smell for me was a no no.
If you identify the trigger you can take the necesarry steps to avoid them or counteract them whenever is possible.
5. STAY HIDRATED – this is such an important thing to do but at the same time can feel like a monumental effort when you have morning sickness. Once again for me, my daily digital planner this time that I got from MaravillosoDesign helped me with monitoring my water intake every day.

Try different ways of tricking your body into accepting fluids. For some people, salty snacks like potato chips and cheese curls „settle their stomachs and trigger their thirst.” Or try different temperatures, try popsicles, cold beverages or piping hot drink. For some people if the water is slightly warmer is a trigger for nausea.
6. FIND THE FOODS THAT WORK FOR YOU- Many people don’t feel like eating when they feel nauseous. But, finding the foods that go down easiest (and stay down) can help morning sickness. Though there’s no hard-and-fast rule about the best foods for morning sickness, many people find it easier to keep certain items down.
For me personally what really got me through without starving were cereals with milk, bananas & patatoes. I would eat cereals, bananas & patatoes like a crazy person at the point where now after 2 years I can’t eat ceteals or have more then 1 banana a week (with patatoes I’m still fine – will die a mega fan).
Pretzels have seen many people through morning sickness, as have ice-cold treats like popsicles and watermelon straight from the refrigerator.
Fatty and spicy foods may upset your stomach, but if you find that they work for you, by all means, go ahead and eat them!
7. EAT OFTEN AND IN SMALL AMOUNTS – my thoughts on this is like this : when your stomach is empty the acids don’t have what to ‘eat’ so they attack the stomach lining – triggering more nausea. On the other hand eating to much, having that full feeling, can out your digestive system into overdrive which could also lead to nausea even vomiting.

Keeping your tummy just in the middle ia the perfect solution. Make a little stash of things you tolerate near you and snack away all day in small quantities.
8. TRY GINGER – personally I didn’t tried it because I absolutely HATE ginger but my mom had stomach problems for like forever and when she feels a little nauseated she will make herself a hot tea with ginger.
Others alternatives are to find some ginger lollipop or some crystallized ginger candy, gingers naps or even ginger bread.
9. ADJUST YOUR SCREEN – it may sound strange but the bright light and undetectable strobe effect may make you more nauseated.
Little advice : make the font bigger and bold, change the background color to pink or tan. Also, take breaks from electronics by getting up and doing something else in the house or just close your eyes for 10 minutes.
10. CONSIDER CONSULTING WITH TOUR DOCTOR – in the end because nothing I tried for me 100% worked I had to go back to my doctor and talked with her explained how miserable I was and she gave me stomach pills, an acid reflux blocker and antiemetic.

Each morning I would take 1 and I would be just fine, no nausea no vomiting. Of course, before taking any medication, check with a health care provider.
This what I tried and heard during my pregnancy about nausea & vomiting. I really hope it will help you and if you do try please let me know in the comments what sid you do and if your better. Don’t forget subscribe to my store to recieve the awsome rewards each month & week.
